As Canberra Philharmonic open West Side Story, the classic musical interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, Canberra Dramatics is ready to announce the cast for their Romeo and Juliet project, Take Their Life! The great cast listed below will be joined by a talented ensemble, and they begin work on the show on Monday 31 August.

For those who haven't been following Canberra Dramatics' activities this year, Take Their Life is a reimagining of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in which the tragic couple, rather than dying, are forced to live with each other! A creative team has been working since the beginning of the year on developing an altered script for the play, and this will be staged at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre in November. All we need is a cast and some crew!

A very dedicated team will soon set to work on Canberra Dramatics' great experiment! Meeting on Valentine's Day was a very symbolic gesture that was not intentional, but bodes well for their reimagining of Shakespeare's classic love tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. This team will spend the next four months developing a script that takes Shakespeare's story, changes it, and takes it further. Are the world's favourite lovers really star-crossed? Or are they victims of their own desires?

A fantastic range of actors turned up to audition for The Incident at Fugue Bay, and the high calibre of performers present made it very difficult to reach a final decision on the cast of our upcoming production. The tough decisions have been made, however, and the cast has been announced.

Auditions for Canberra Dramatics' two 2009 productions will be held on Wednesday 28th January and Thursday 5th February. Cast for The Incident at Fugue Bay and a Creative Team for Take Their Life will be auditioned on these two dates.
