Canberra Dramatics is now seeking scripts to be considered for production or workshopping, or both! Successful scripts could see production in the 2010 Season.
Canberra Dramatics is dedicated to the development of new local theatrical work and is interested in reading the work of local playwrights who have work that has not been produced in Canberra before. We are most interested in full-length plays or anthologies of short plays ready for co-production. Individual short plays may be considered for entry into the Festival of One Act Plays. Screenplays are also welcome, as are unfinished works that are ready to be workshopped in preparation for a production.
In short, all plays on any topic, in any genre, for any performance space, in any state of preparation, submitted according to the following guidelines, will be considered for inclusion in Canberra Dramatics' program of activities for the 2010 calendar year. Any playwright from Canberra or the surrounding region may submit as many plays as they wish.
So, playwrights; dust off those manuscripts and get them in to us by the 31st of January! This is an excellent opportunity for playwrights to have their work performed, and to reach an audience that it might not otherwise see.
Guidelines:
- Scripts should be laid out in a consistent format clearly distinguishing characters, dialogue and stage directions; with pages numbered and secured with a removable clip.
- Include a coversheet for the play that itemises the following information:
- cast size
- number of male performers required
- number of female performers required
- estimated length (in hours and minutes)
- date of writing

- Include contact information for the playwright or the playwright's agent, including:
- emailaddress/es

- No covering letter is necessary, nor is any background information on the script. If you do wish to include background information, please attach it as an appendix behind the script itself, and not before.
- The deadline for submissions for the 2010 Season has been extended, however, playwrights should note that Canberra Dramatics accepts scripts year-round, and deliberates on each year's program at the beginning of the previous year. Therefore any submissions received before the end of January 2010 will be considered for the 2011 Season.)
